(New Year Day killing) Don Waney’s Senior Gang Member Arrested

The Nigerian police said they have killed six individuals affirmed to be individuals from the pack that engineered the New Year Day killing in Omoku, Rivers State. 

The police said they likewise captured one Desmond Okotubo, said to be a 'senior part' of the dangerous group. 

The representative of the Police central station, Abuja, Jimoh Moshood, said that the six pack individuals were slaughtered amid a shootout at their den in Awara Forest, which is a limit between Imo State and Rivers.

 Mr Moshood said other group individuals got away from the timberland with shot injuries, "and fled to Rivers, Delta, Imo and Bayelsa States, with the police on their trail." 

The suspect, Mr Okotubo, 32, was trailed to Mpape in Abuja where he was captured on Tuesday, the police said. The police said Mr Okotubo, who is from Egbenma, ONELGA LGA of the state, has admitted to participating in the Omoku murdering.

The suspect, Desmond Okotubo, uncovered to the Police how their pack pioneer, Don Waney, accumulated them and advised them the evening of 31st January 2017 on the mission to assault and slaughter the occupants of Omoku town. 

Thirty of them, outfitted with more than 20 AK-47 rifles crossed the stream from Awara to Omoku timberland and continued to Omoku town and opened shoot on blameless residents commending the New Year," the police said.
